Boho Chic Shoot at the Village at Lyons
Boho Shoot at The Village At Lyons…
Boho fashion made its first debut in the mid-to-late 19th century and surfaced in the early 70’s. Fast-forward 2016/17 it’s back, drawing on various bohemian/hippie influences of the swinging 60’s/70’s
The shoot was for the editorial pages in the Irish Wedding Diary Magazine.
With her natural flowing locks our model Katelyn Cassidy from Andria Roche model agency was a perfect choice for the Boho theme.
Allison McCabe worked her magic on the hairstyles. Photography by ruthforanphotography. Dresses by www.ciararosebridalboutique.ieThe Stylist on the shoot was Edel Cooney from Vintage Affair; Edel was also responsible for the fab flowers and floral headpiece. The Boho style is alabout freedom of movement; with flowing easy to wear cloths.
Loose hairstyles and plenty of flowers brought the look together. I worked on a casual Makeup look, no wings or false lashes! All the makeup photos were taken with my Canon 6D no airbrush/filter, straight off the camera!
After prepping Katelyn’s skin, I choose Clarins Everlasting Foundation, the shoot ran from dawn to dusk, didn’t finish till around 7pm. It was important to choose a formula that had staying power and would suit Katelyn’s skin type. When working with a full cover finish, while at the same time aiming for a dewing natural look, I simply drop the application of powder, this enables the finish to remain dewy and of course perfect!
Time to begin with contouring cheeks, eyes and lips
I contoured with Clarins Matte Bronzer.
Lets face it Boho is an earthy look, I dipped into my MAC earthy shades palette. For the contouring shadow I choose Brown Down it’s a rich deep chocolate brown shade I love it, working with a pencil brush, I applied the shadow deep into the socket crease of the eyelid I then blended will with a shader brush. I then swept underneath the eyes with this rich shadow again using a pencil brush.
Next step, I choose the shadow Jest, this shadow has a pinky coral hew to it, and worked well with the contouring shade, I applied the shadow on the eyelids and over the brow bone.
last step..I dabbed Nylon iridescent shadow on the inner corner of each eye to highlight. The photo’s show exactly where to apply each shadow, last but not least black eyeliner and lashings of mascara.
Lips, Pink worked best with the overall finish, my choice was Love Lorn by MAC
The finished look…..
Moving on to something different,I decided on a lipstick change, I chose the fabulous Mahogany by Clarins.
Changing lipsticks from natural to strong demonstrates how a look can change dramatically.
