Despite the high percentage of peroxide, the developer is very gentle and does not damage or burn the skin. It slightly dries out the hair, but it's not a critical issue. I used it with the Matrix Ultra Blonde Plus series, and my hair lightened from a level 5-6 to a reddish level 10.
