On my last birthday, I ordered myself Eau de Rochas because it was its 50th anniversary. I also wanted something in a beautiful and memorable bottle. Coincidentally, the day before I saw a TV program about Galina Ulanova. Her students and those who had seen her on stage talked about how she was a ballet goddess, how her dance enchanted everyone, how she liked to dress elegantly, preferably in suits given to her by famous Paris and London designers, but she was indifferent to perfumes, as many expensive and fashionable ones were given to her. She thanked them cordially and passed them on, because she loved nature and believed that nothing could compare to natural scents that perfumers cannot recreate. But once, in 1970, her hands came across the newly released Eau de Rochas and fell in love with them. She liked the bottle, which reminded her of mountain crystal, carved frost patterns on the glass, and a transparent mountain stream, and a delicate scent of awakening nature. Since then, she has only brought Eau de Rochas from all her tours. And to this day, in the bathroom of her museum apartment, a bottle with the remnants of this perfume stands on the shelf. That's how I wanted to touch the legend, and that's how my choice was made. Of course, there are no similar perfumes anymore and there never will be.

I first heard it from my mother in childhood, but it remained in my olfactory memory forever, so I decided to order it for myself. The perfect everyday fragrance, aristocratically standing out against the dominance of modern eastern sweetness and oud, sugary fruits, gourmand notes, and vanilla.
Crystal clear, cool, and somewhat dry. Mossy with initial citrus notes. It is slightly bitter, and may seem too retro to some, but it definitely doesn't smell like a grandmother's chest. It stays close to the skin, so don't expect a strong trail. The longevity is average. Unisex scent.
