Lactic acid is an α-hydroxy acid (AHA) that is formed when sugar is fermented by lactic acid bacteria. It is a clear liquid with a specific sour smell. It has relatively small particles, which means that it penetrates the skin well and acts a little deeper than acids with larger particles. It is ideal for mature combination skin with signs of photoaging, as well as thick oily skin. It can also be used to care for dull skin.
With daily use, a concentration of about 2-2.5% is perfect. This concentration of acid provides you with hydration and an even skin tone.
