Before first use, sterilize the cup in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Start by washing your hands thoroughly with soap. Fold the cup. There are different folding techniques - you can try several and choose the one that suits you best. Insert the folded cup and allow it to expand inside the vagina. The cup will open with a characteristic suction or popping sound, indicating it has been correctly positioned. If you're unsure, feel the base of the cup - it should be round or oval when inserted correctly. If you notice any dents or indentations, it means that the cup hasn't fully opened. Gently hold the base of the cup (not the stem) and try to rotate it to create a suction seal. Once in place, gently tug on the stem; if you feel resistance, the suction is established and the cup is securely in place.
Removing the Cup
Remember to wash your hands again. Carefully pull on the stem and use your abdominal muscles to push the cup down until you can reach its base. Gently pinch the base to release the suction and slide the cup out. Empty the cup by pouring out its contents, rinse it with water (paying attention to the air holes), and reinsert it. When your period ends, boil the cup in water for 3-5 minutes and store it in a cotton bag.
You can use the cup for up to 12 hours, so you typically need to empty it in the morning and evening. If you find yourself in a situation where you need to empty it and don't have access to water, you can use toilet paper to clean it.
