Retinol and Squalane - in the world of modern cosmetology, these terms are synonymous with the glow of youth, the absence of wrinkles, and flawless beauty. Beauty products containing these active ingredients are immensely popular among women who aspire to look young and well-groomed regardless of their actual age.
The Ordinary Retinol 1% in Squalane is a serum, the formula of which was developed by Canadian beauty experts. It is an original anhydrous solution containing 1% pure retinol. Regular application of the serum improves skin tone, smoothens fine lines, wrinkles, and folds. The product helps to reduce the signs of photo-aging, densifies the skin's structure. It lightens pigmentation spots and acne scars, normalizes metabolic processes in the epidermis cells, tightens pores, and enhances firmness and elasticity.
How to use: Apply a small amount to cleansed facial skin in the evening as part of your skincare routine. Do not use the product in conjunction with other medications containing retinoids. Store in a cool, dry place.

I can say this - for the first time in 20 years, I don't have to wear foundation. I am thrilled with the result. I have combination skin, 35+, and started with 1% immediately. Next time, I will start with 0.5%. I use it once a week because it works on me like a professional chemical peel at a cosmetologist's office. On the 3rd or 4th day, peeling starts and there are localized redness, but a nourishing cream solves the problem, and voila - on the 7th day, the skin is incredible, and it keeps getting better and better every week! I definitely recommend it! It's no coincidence that they say that proven anti-aging products are retinol and peptides.
Good serum, I've been using it for 2 months (it says it will take effect after 2 months), noticeable results, wrinkles are smaller (I'm 35 years old). For my oily skin, the 1% light version is good - I will try the 2% version and add peptides to the serum instead of the cream.
One day I went out in the sun with SPF 15 - my face got slightly red, now I'm using SPF 50.
The expiration date is short, but that's understandable because air and light can get in. I store it in the box and in the refrigerator.
I think if someone didn't like this brand, it might be due to compatibility issues with other cosmetics, and that's individual.
It simply sits on the shelf, with no effect except for light moisturization. I don't know how it affects others, but it doesn't cause peeling or burning on my skin.
This is the only thing that helped me with breakouts. To say that I am satisfied would be an understatement. But I started with 0.5% and then switched to 1%.
In the morning, it is necessary to thoroughly wash with a gentle cleanser, use a toner, and apply SPF30-50.
In the evening, I use an ANA acid (Kristina) (yes, they say that you can't combine them, but both the dermatologist and the cosmetologist gave me the green light).
Toner,
Retinol.
I don't cover it with anything since it's already oily.
If you are just starting to use it, my recommendations are:
Start applying it 2-3 times a week, then every night.
Endure the peeling (the skin gets used to it).
Be amazed by the results.
I used half of the jar with difficulty. Useless thing, thrown in the trash and also caused a rash on my combination skin. SPF 50 did not help with pigmentation. In general, 0 results, with the side effect of pigmentation and rash. Used it at night.
Girls, if you have acne, this is exactly what you've been looking for.
In short, I couldn't get rid of acne for a long time. I tried peels (cool, but then BOOM and it's back), took pills for the intestines, didn't eat sweets, flour, and dairy - it helps, but NO.
Then I finally decided to try acne care advice. Yes, it will require some spending, but it's worth it!!
Morning:
1. Regular cleansing foam
2. Niacinamide (serum)
3. SPF, in winter and summer
Evening:
1. Foam with acids (according to skin type)
2. Retinol (at night!!!!)
3. Moisturizing cream
Less than a month has passed and there are no new breakouts. Healing the spots.
Don't invent a "bicycle" when dermatologists have been studying it for years!!! Self-medication can be harmful to your health!!!
Very good, I don't like the smell, but for the effect, I can endure it. I used it every other day, didn't expect anything and got a wow.
In awe of this serum. It is olive-based, and I thought it would make my skin greasy - but it doesn't. I apply it at night and wake up with perfectly smooth, nourished skin. Even though my skin used to have acne problems.
I have been using it for about two weeks. The initial peeling quickly disappeared with a good moisturizing cream. I didn't notice any skin deterioration (which they promise at the beginning), but I definitely noticed improvements from the first application and I am satisfied.
For those who are considering trying it for the first time and are currently reading comments: take a closer look at the brand's products with a lower concentration of retinol to start with and gradually introduce it! It's not critical, of course, to start with this one, but there is a chance to minimize unpleasant side effects such as peeling and redness. And don't forget about moisturizing and SPF.
I have been using it for about a week and there is a fairly intense reaction in the form of skin peeling. For the first couple of days, I thought we wouldn't get along as large pimples appeared. But after a few days, my skin cleared up and the spots from previous inflammations lightened a bit. It hasn't had any effect on my pores yet. As for the negatives, it leaves a strong shine on combination skin, but when applied at night, it's not a problem. The consistency is also very liquid, so sometimes I have to "catch" the drops. That's why I apply it on my palm first and then spread it on my face.
The product is not bad, but only suitable for the cold weather period. It doesn't work well with any of my creams, it tends to roll and takes a long time to absorb, even if you apply just a little bit. There are much more effective products with retinol from Medik8 or Obagi, although they are more expensive, they are much more effective. And another thing, this is my second jar from this brand, and for the second time, the dispenser is broken, the bottle stops screwing on, and it's unclear what to do next. My friend had the same experience.
I have tight skin, accustomed to acids and retinol. Before using this serum, I used Life Flo cream with 1% retinol, and it is more effective on me. This serum has an oily texture, it does not dry out or irritate the skin at all. The visible effects are that it seems to tighten and hydrate the skin. It does not have a visible effect on my uneven texture and wrinkles.
Poorly absorbed. If you apply cream on top, it becomes extremely greasy on the face, so you have to blot it with a tissue. I have been using it for less than a week, every day, and I haven't experienced any redness or peeling. It's funny because I expected a reaction to the retinol. This is the first time I've used a serum with retinol. I will wait for results after 48 days of use, as the skin usually renews itself in that amount of time after turning 30 (I'm 30). That's why I gave it 4 stars.
The product is good. I bought it to treat breakouts, and the inflammation went away after the first use. When I purchased it, I didn't know that there was a serum with a lower percentage of retinol. This one might be too strong for me at the moment. My skin is still adjusting.
Very cool product.
It is important to remember that if you are just introducing retinol, your skin will definitely peel. It is recommended to use it only once a week at the beginning.
My skin adaptation took place gradually over several months. After applying it, my skin doesn't peel anymore and I really like the effect.
I use it in all seasons except for the three summer months.
"I am adding stars to my review."
Thank you, makeup, for working so well during such a difficult time! The serum evens out the skin tone and smooths the skin very well. It works so effectively that all of my female colleagues have ordered it. I highly recommend it!
Good serum, the skin literally transforms after 3-4 uses. I am 32 years old, with oily and acne-prone skin, and deep lines on my forehead. I had not used any products with retinol before, so I started using it every other day. In the second week of use, I experienced some peeling in the most sensitive areas, but it disappeared within two days. Now, my skin responds well to the serum and looks noticeably refreshed. Breakouts hardly occur, my skin is less oily, and the pores have lightened. Fine lines have smoothed out after a month of use, and the deep lines on my forehead and nasolabial folds have become less pronounced. The results have definitely exceeded my expectations!
Started from 0.3, now I am using this. I really like it)). Those who are planning pregnancy, pregnant, and breastfeeding should not use it under any circumstances!
I have been using it for a week. There are no visible results yet, we will see after some time... The quality is great, practically odorless, no irritation. Everything is satisfactory for now.
