Perfumer Sébastien Martin drew inspiration from the myths surrounding the Taoist goddess of flowers, He Xiangu, who resided on the divine island of Peng Lai, which lends its name to this enchanting fragrance. To convey her magical allure and charm, Martin centered the composition around Chinese Osmanthus, a flower symbolizing fertility, peace, loyalty, and love.
Osmanthus imparts a delicate, fruity-floral aroma reminiscent of luscious apricots. This intoxicating opening unfolds into the sweet, creamy vanilla notes of Laotian benzoin. As you breathe in the scent, you may also detect subtle hints of spices, smoke, and sun-warmed resin. The final impression of the fragrance is shaped by Brazilian tonka beans, which emit sweetly bitter nuances of dried fruits.
