Preparation
- Remove the storage case and set it aside. Ensure that the blue mouthguard is securely placed in the white molding tray by pressing on the two bite pads. The blue mouthguard should remain in the white molding tray.
- Fill a cup with water. To determine the correct amount of water, place the molding tray with the mouthguard into the cup and fill it with water up to the fill line on the tray handle. Once the cup is filled, remove the molding tray with the mouthguard and set it aside.
- Using a microwave or oven, bring the water in the cup to a boil. Place the molding tray with the mouthguard into the hot water, ensuring that the blue mouthguard is facing down, and wait for 3 minutes and 30 seconds. Prepare a mirror.
Fitting the Mouthguard
- Carefully remove the molding tray with the mouthguard from the cup and shake off any excess water.
- Using a mirror, place the molding tray with the mouthguard into your mouth without biting down, positioning it so that the centering bar on the molding tray touches the center of your front teeth.
- Bite down firmly. Your teeth should sink deeply into the mouthguard. Then apply slight pressure for 3 minutes.
- Slowly open your mouth. If the mouthguard is fitted correctly, the tray and mouthguard will remain on your upper teeth. Gently pull the tray and mouthguard down.
- Place the tray and mouthguard, facing down, into a container with room temperature water for 5 minutes to set the shape of the mouthguard.
- Remove the mouthguard from the tray by slowly pulling on the center of the connecting arch until the mouthguard pops out. Your mouthguard is now ready for use.
Cleaning and Care
- After each use, clean the mouthguard with toothpaste and/or mouthwash. Never rinse the mouthguard with hot water, as this can alter its shape.
- Check your mouthguard monthly for wear and tear. The lifespan of the mouthguard depends on the frequency and intensity of teeth grinding. The mouthguard can be used for up to six months.
