Among the vast variety of gel nail polishes, many professionals prefer one-phase products as they allow for a high-quality and durable finish significantly faster. With the One Phase Gel Polish from the Ukrainian brand Koto, there's no need for a base or top coat, as the gel polish itself performs these functions.
The optimal consistency, remarkable durability, and ease of use are compelling advantages to choose this product. The manicure retains its initial appeal for up to three weeks, delighting its wearer with a rich color and amazing shine. It is suitable for application on both natural and artificial nails.
Recommendations for removing the gel polish:
To remove Koto gel polish, use a gel and gel polish remover: moisten a gel polish removal sponge with the solution and wrap each finger. You can substitute special sponges with a regular napkin and foil. After 10-15 minutes, remove the remnants of the gel polish with an orange stick. Buff the nails with a nail buffer.-
In the first step of applying gel polish, shape your nails as desired and smooth out the free edges, thoroughly cleaning off any dust. Consider giving yourself a manicure beforehand. If you used any creams or oils during the process, make sure to clean your nails with specialized products. The main task before applying gel polish is to remove the cuticle from the nail plate using an orange stick or a cuticle remover to prevent peeling. The top keratin layer of the nail should also be removed, usually with a coarse-grit buffer. When using the buffer, make the nail matte by gently removing just a bit of the shine. Avoid over-buffing to prevent damaging the nail plate. The third step is to apply a primer to the nails, which helps ensure better adhesion with the gel polish. The primer air-dries in about 1 minute and should not touch the cuticle. The fourth step is applying the colored gel polish. Depending on the desired final color, apply one or two thin layers of polish to avoid bubbles and waves on the nail surface. The polish can also be used in a three-phase system (with a base and top coat), extending the wear time to up to 4 weeks. After applying the gel polish, cure the nails under a UV lamp for 2 minutes or an LED lamp (preferably 36W) for 1 minute. After curing, the coating will have a beautiful glossy shine without a sticky (dispersion) layer.

The color does not match the advertised 500 shades at all. It is more of a shocking pink.
I ordered shade 389, and the color was almost identical. In reality, it appears a slightly brighter shade of pink. I haven't tested the quality yet as I haven't applied it. I will update with further information later.
I decided to purchase this product based on the reviews as I wanted to try a one-phase gel polish. I bought it specifically for a pedicure and was looking for a bright red color. Someone mentioned that shade number 148 is a bright red, but this is not true. It is actually a red with a hint of cherry undertone. I applied two coats on a tip and found that it wasn't thick and didn't stick after drying. Overall, it seems decent, but I haven't tried it for a full application yet.
This gel polish is excellent; it applies easily, without the need for a primer, directly onto the nails. I cured it in the lamp for 120 seconds. I chose shade number 148. The color is much brighter than in the photo. In the photo, it has already been a week.
This gel polish is excellent. It lasts a long time and is difficult to remove.
Shade 148 is not burgundy, but rather a rich red hue. It dries well.
Review: Shade 445. Excellent in terms of wearability, it does not have a sticky layer, but just to be safe, I wiped it with a sticky layer remover. It lasted a week without any chips or peeling. Applied it over PNB base.
Shade 102
This is my first one-phase nail polish, and I have been wearing it for a week and a half now. Surprisingly, there are no chips, which astonishes me. I applied two coats over a primer and did not cover it with anything on top.
The nail polish is good, but the shade 101 slightly changes color after drying under the lamp, transitioning from a cool tone to a warm tone.
It smells terrible when drying. I'm not sure how it will be when worn, as I only did a manicure with it. But I don't think I'll get it again because the smell is unbearable. It has more of a matte finish than a glossy one, so I had to apply a top coat to seal it.
I want to write a review for this nail polish because there are plenty of reviews for the 6ml version of this polish, but none for the 10ml version.
I absolutely love this nail polish. I switched from three-phase polishes to using this one-phase polish and I am loving it. I adore the cute bottle with its curls, it's a joy to look at. In the 6ml size, it looks even more beautiful.
Here are all the positives:
- It is thick and doesn't run. Its consistency is no different from regular gel polishes.
- The color is rich and streak-free. I have three shades - 006, 93, and 73 - and none of them are watery or streaky.
- It provides a deep color in just two coats, without any patches. Sometimes even one coat is enough.
- It makes doing a manicure so easy! I'm a lazy person. I just prep my nails, use a primer, apply two coats of this polish - and that's it! It only takes half an hour! With three-phase polishes, it would take up to two hours.
- It lasts a whole week without chipping. I only remove it when my nails start growing out. Towards the end of the week, there may be some minor chipping, but I just touch it up and continue wearing it.
- It doesn't have a strong smell. I don't know about others, but I can't stand smelly gel polishes. These ones have a tolerable smell, it's only noticeable if you sniff it.
- It doesn't have a sticky layer. It's wonderful. No need to remove any residue, nothing sticks to it. I haven't been able to finish a pack of lint-free wipes in a year - no stickiness on the base or topcoat, nothing to remove. It's like a fairytale.
Here are the downsides:
- Sometimes it loses its shine. Not all colors have this issue, but some can become matte over time. I just apply a thin layer of topcoat and I'm happy with it.
- The color range is limited. This is a real disappointment. KOTO has a wide range of colors, but most of them are available only in regular polishes, not in the one-phase ones. There are a lot of reds and not-quite-pinks, you only find about 5-7 shades that catch your eye and that's it. But I've used these shades so much that they're almost worn out. Shade 006 is a lovely lavender shade, perfect for summer, and 93 is a muted dusty-lilac-red, very elegant and calm - both of them are almost finished. And I bought the 10ml bottle of shade 93. That's nonsense for me.
- For those with moist nail plates, it is necessary to always prep them by dehydrating and buffing before applying a primer. Otherwise, the polish won't last more than two to three days. This is the case for my mom. If she's lazy and applies the primer right away, she gets chips within two to three days, and the polish doesn't last a week. For me, everything is fine. So if you have special nail plates, don't be lazy.
But overall, it's my love. I love everything about it - from the rich color to the adorable packaging with its beautiful curls. I often wait for promotions on makeup websites and buy the 10ml bottle for the price of the 6ml one (at the time of writing this review, the 10ml bottle is 95 UAH and the 6ml bottle is 86 UAH, with the same colors). Promotions for the smaller bottles are rare.
