Wet your skin with sufficiently hot water to soften the hair and cleanse the skin before shaving. Apply a small amount of shaving cream and lather it using a shaving brush. If you prefer, you can use the shaving cream without a brush: simply apply it with your hands to the moistened skin of your face and lather. Glide the razor blade in the direction of hair growth. Shave very slowly using short strokes, and clean the blade thoroughly. Do not pass the razor over the same area of skin twice without reapplying shaving cream. Apply shaving cream to your skin again. This time, glide the razor blade against the direction of hair growth. Avoid pressing hard on the razor to prevent ingrown hairs and irritation. Rinse your face with cold or warm water.
