- Description
The SYPH-Check-1® syphilis test is a rapid and highly specific immunological test designed to detect the presence of antibodies to Treponema pallidum in a finger-prick blood sample. This test can identify both recent and long-standing infections (even after many years).
The accuracy of the SYPH-Check-1® test is well-established, with over 15 years of use by professionals. Evaluation reports indicate a 97% overall agreement with the reference method.
The SYPH-Check-1® test should be conducted when clinical symptoms appear, the most common of which are ulcers and a specific rash. It can also be used as a preventive measure for individuals in high-risk groups, as the infection may be asymptomatic. Untreated syphilis can lead to severe cardiovascular problems and progress to neurosyphilis. Caused by the spirochete Treponema pallidum (TP), the infection is typically transmitted through sexual contact and, in rare cases, via transfusion of infected blood.
The test can be performed at any time of day.
