Chlamydia is a disease caused by Chlamydia trachomatis, which often does not present any symptoms. The condition may remain asymptomatic for several years, and if left untreated, it can lead to serious complications such as infertility or the commonly known pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) in women, or testicular inflammation in men. Chlamydia is also the most common cause of sexually acquired reactive arthritis (SARA).
Fortunately, once detected, a chlamydial infection can be treated with antibiotic therapy under medical supervision.
The test detects the Chlamydia trachomatis antigen. It is used to assist in the clinical assessment and diagnosis of an infected individual. It is recommended that the test be conducted approximately two weeks after potential exposure to the pathogen (sexual intercourse). The "RAPID CHLAMYDIA TEST" is a medical device designed for everyone. The tests are intended for home use (self-administered).
