The INSTI test is conducted using a capillary blood sample (from a finger) to detect antibodies to HIV (Human Immunodeficiency Virus) types 1 and 2.
The result of the INSTI test can be read within 1 minute. The test can detect HIV antibodies as early as 21/22 days after potential exposure. While in many cases HIV antibodies only appear after three months, the sensitivity of the test allows for earlier detection (within two weeks) than other available tests.
