Reviews about Wella Shockwaves Ultra Strong Power Hold Gel

The gel is clearly not of strong hold. I have moderately curly hair, and after drying, it twists nicely, but by the second day, it's completely different. I have also used Syoss gel with strong hold and Giovanni Max Hold, and those two are much better. Only Syoss can be felt on the hair, slightly sticking them together, while Giovanni is not noticeable and holds for three days.

I purchased this gel from the store and have been using it for about 1-2 months, so I can share my impressions.

If you have beautiful, lightweight, and non-porous curls, then this gel might be suitable for you. However, if you have coarse, highly porous hair, this gel might not provide enough hold.

In the morning, the curls do not maintain their shape well and start to frizz. I don't have time to refresh them, and even if I do, I still have to apply mousse because the gel doesn't hold them together well.

I switched from the gel to Wella's "Curls and Waves" mousse, and I must say that I am more satisfied with the results.

Overall, the gel is decent and does its job. I wouldn't call its hold super strong. The scent reminds me of underground passages, and the lid is very poor, as it doesn't close properly every time. However, there aren't any other significant drawbacks - the texture is pleasant, it spreads well through the hair, and it doesn't make the hair greasy or dirty. I deducted one star simply because the gel is quite affordable, and the composition is not bad for such a modest price. I know that it suits many people better than it does me and delivers good results, so it's worth a try.
